Waterfall on Jeju Island

Bonte Museum, which was recently built (April 2012) is filled with articles of folk art that Lee Hang Ja, founder and current advisor of Korea Design, has collected for more than 30 years. The traditional folk art museum is hiring two part-time teachers to lead the museum-based education program on weekends. The art museum is located on the Jeju (Seogwipo-si) island.

Five-billion won has been invested in the Bonte Museum, which will be used to construct this two-story building that connects to an ecology park inside the Biotopia Town House. Internationally renowned architect Ando Tadao has participated in designing the building, which will contain a Korean traditional fence, a pond, and a bridge.

“I hoped to make a high-quality space where people can enjoy Korean traditions in Jeju, which is designated as UNESCO Biosphere, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage, and a UNESCO World Geopark,” said Lee, explaining her motive for the establishment of the museum.

Water wonderlands carved by the waves: The world's most spectacular sea-caves

  • 'Littoral caves' carved by action of the sea over millennia
  • Caves up to 70m deep
  • 'Great Blue Hole' lets divers plunge 407ft below surface
  • Myths say caves inhabited by giants - or even the God of the sea himself

Many 'sea caves' are famous among the watersports community - largely because you have to strap on a pair of flippers and an air tank to explore sights such as Belize's Great Blue Hole.

But the relentless action of the waves over millennia has carved out some spectacular caves that you don't even need a snorkel to explore such as Fingal's Cave in Scotland - just a sturdy pair of boots.

Fingal's Cave, on the uninhabited island of Staffa in Scotland, showcases unique, unspoiled geography - and was reputed to be home to a giant who built a causeway between Scotland and Ireland.

Other caves (below) are reputed to have been home to the Old Man of the Sea - or even sea- God Neptune himself.
